Watch Out for State Farm Scary Tactics"
We have nothing but renters insurance through this company. In 2007 my SUV was damaged when it was rear-ended by another car that had auto insurance through this same company. When the adjuster finally came out and gave us an estimate we took the SUV to have it repaired. About a week later we received a letter in the mail informing us that our RENTERS INSURANCE was going up by over $100.00. We were paying $14.66 a month (or 164.00 a year) for $20,500 worth of coverage on a STORAGE UNIT, it didn't cover anything else but the storage unit and they were going to jack up our insurance. We raised a fuss and inquired WHY such a high increase and was then told..."Oh my, that is significant. Let me research it and I will call you back." The lady did call us back two days later and explained that that this company just had a rate increase but NOT by that much. She did fix the price and the amount did increase, but only by $5.00. I TRUELY believe that if we didn't catch it, and ask questions it would have been increased by the $100+ so that they could recoupe the money that was used to fix my sport trac. So PLEASE read your statements and NOTICES CAREFULLY and COMPLETELY if you are involved in a wreck that IS NOT your fault. You just might find your insurance going up.
