Hail Damage, Denied My Claim
I recently notified State Farm that I had received damage from a hail storm. The State Farm adjustor found that my 12 year old roof was damaged by deterioration not hail. She stated I was not entitled to any claim. I contacted a contractor who estimated the roof replacement and stated in a letter that the damage was hail related. I requested a second evaluation. The second adjustor also stated that the roof was deterioration not hail while my contractor stood and argued with him. It is amazing how hail can total out the neighbors roofs on two sides of me and mine is caused by deterioration. I was home when the hail hit. I know what the roof looked like prior to the storm. The damage was caused by the hail and I do not appreciate being called a lier by State Farm. If my roof is losing value while I pay the premiums then my premiums should be reduced to match the lower coverage. I have talked with others who have had claims against State Farm. They stated that it is very difficult to get state farm to pay on claims. One friend had to sue State Farm to have his car repaired after a State Farm insured driver ran a stop sign. I wish I had heard that before I signed up with them."
