After we called our agent to let them know of the accident we anticipated a swift and friendly reconciliation of the matter.
6 DAYS later we finally got a call from the claims office. First person to call us was not only judgemental of the situation, but rude. And never asked if we were ok, just asked if there were any injuries to report. Not very personable."

We bought a 4X4 Dodge Ram SLT, paid in full (cash) and I called our agent to have it fully insured before I even got in to drive it. Unfortunatly it was in an accident 6 days later. Our second claim in 18 years (first claim was a deer vs car) being insured by State Farm on a total of 13 different cars in that time.

In the next week the body shop that our truck was sitting at (which already had the quote done) called me to ask if we knew what was going on. So I had to call in and ask. State Farm said it will be a total loss and I had to be transferred to that dept. Total Loss dept informed me they hadn't come up with a figure yet. I asked if I was still paying a monthly premium on a truck that was sitting in a parking lot ready to be destroyed. The gentlemen (who was nicer than the first person I talked to) said I was still paying it and he could suspend the insurance if I wished. "OF COURSE" was my answer and I asked why that wasn't offered to me the day the car was brought to body shop, he had no answer for me.
30 DAYS AFTER ACCIDENT, we finally received a check. Now the reason was they were waiting on the title, since we just purchased the truck it was in the hands of Dept of Motor Vehicles.
HERE'S THE LAST STRAW: Even though State Farm had to wait for the title to get in from the DMV to cut us our check, they went ahead and DESTROYED the vehicle!
So let me get this straight, I can't get a check, but you can destroy the car? How is that possible? We owned it 100%, paid in full. How can it be destroyed without us THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE being paid for it? RIDICULOUS!
Now I get a notice in the mail (no phone call) that my rates are going to go up!! Are you serious? We have one perfect driver for 20 years, one driver that has had one ticket in 18 years and one soon to be 18 yr old that now has one accident in 2 yrs. Needless to say, I believe State Farm is too big a company to care about me and my 3 car policies, one home policy and two Life insurance policies. Time to start shopping elsewhere.
